Animal Control

Several property owners in Alpha Subdivision have complained about dogs running free out of the control of their owners.  Please see Archuleta County Ordnance 23-2023 which states the requirements for control of dogs. See section 2.9 (a,b,c), quoted below:

2.9 “Control” shall mean that:
a. The animal is under physical restraint by means of a leash or similar tether of sufficient strength that is not longer than ten (10) feet in length that is being held by a person;
b. The animal is physically restrained by being enclosed in a cage, pen, fence, building, or motor vehicle in such a way that it cannot escape; or
c. The animal is accompanied by a person whom it immediately responds to commands, be they issued audibly, mechanically, or electronically and remain within sight.

Please be a good neighbor and observe these requirements

Road Maintenance

.

Alpha-Rockridge Metro Road District spring road work has been completed.

Unfortunately all did not go as planned.

One of the spray trucks used to apply the chemicals was not calibrated correctly. As a result some of our roads got more chemical than planned and some got none. If you are on one of the roads that got none I apologize. We are planning on doing another application of the chemicals on our roads in the fall and we will make sure all the roads get an application at that time.

Thanks for your understanding,
Gary Lansdale
Chairman ARMD

Dumping in Alpha

For those who travel along Great West you would have noticed tires dumped on the road.  If you see anyone dumping any materials in Alpha, please gather information, such as photos if possible, and send it to alphapoa81147@gmail.com, so that we can take the necessary action.

Thank you for your help in keeping our subdivision clean and tidy.

PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT Adjacent to Alpha

One of the landowners of Alpha received the following letters from the planning committee as that parcel is within the surrounding area that has to be notified.

This landowner went to the Planning department for a visit and question session. They, the developer (who has not been named), and Planning Commission apparently had a lot of negative feedback at the first meeting, hence the change in the original plans and postponed the second meeting to a later date.
The proposal is about 747 units, 3 occupants in each unit for a total of 2,241 individuals, 1,000 dogs and cats with 1,000 vehicles.
The developer wants to put in their own sewer plant behind the middle school because upgrades to the existing system are “too expensive”
Besides the sewer system, ambulance fire and police services would be inadequate.
As to the traffic, the developer is proposing a roundabout at 160 for the entrance.
IF YOU WANT TO ATTEND THE NEXT MEETING AND HAVE A VOICE, IT WILL BE ON TUESDAY, JUNE 28TH, 2022 AT 5.30 P.M. AT THE CITY PLANNING DEPARTMENT. THERE WILL BE A ZOOM CONNECTION AS WELL.
